The short case study takes place in Northern Laos and was commissioned by Save the Children.
The organisation runs many projects around the world and are very active in Laos.
This story is about Dok Chit: When she was born the umbilical cord was around her neck and she could not breathe.
Her life was saved by the volunteer midwife who had received training to deal with especially difficult and potentially life threatening cases during birth. By keeping her head cool and following the right procedures she was able to save the life of this baby.
